Biography

Anne Dudley is a musician, composer, arranger and producer. Her work over the past thirty years crosses the boundaries of the pop and classical worlds in a unique way. Dudley's career in pop music began in the 1980s as a keyboard player and arranger on such records as ABC's Lexicon of Love, Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Two Tribes and Malcolm McLaren's Buffalo Gals which she co-wrote.

She was a founding member of Art of Noise, whose pioneering attitude towards sampling was highly innovative and remains influential to this day. Art of Noise are popularly remembered for their collaborations with Duane Eddy (Peter Gunn), Max Headroom (Paranoimia) and Tom Jones (Kiss) but it is tracks such as Moments in Love and Close to the Edit which have provided the blueprint for the electronic age. The group re-invented itself for the Millennium with the album The Seduction of Claude Debussy.

For the past twenty years, Dudley has been writing music for films including scores such as The Crying Game, Buster, Pushing Tin, Black Book and the long-running TV series Jeeves and Wooster. She won the Oscar in 1998 for The Full Monty score which is now the highest grossing film of all time in the UK. Dudley's score for the BBC Drama The Key in 2003 was nominated for an Ivor Novello award as was her music for Trial and Retribution in 2009. Dudley's first opera The Doctor's Tale was produced at the Royal Opera House Linbury Theatre in 2011. She was the music producer for the ground breaking film version of Les Miserables which won an Academy Award for best sound and has just completed another musical film Walking on Sunshine in which she produced the songs and wrote the score.
