Biography

Ed Alton has sustained an impressive career in the Los Angeles TV, film and recording industries. His music has maintained a constant presence on prime time TV for nearly 30 years. To date, he has composed scores for over 530 episodes of 31 different prime time network TV series. For 21 of those series he also composed the Main Title themes. Daily Variety recognized Alton as one of TV's top theme composers when it listed him as #5 among Nielsen's Top 90's TV Themesters. His career has been distinguished by numerious accolades including five ASCAP Top TV Composer Awards, an Emmy Nomination, and several Gold & Platimun record awards.

Alton's eclectic musical background has proven invaluable in the diverse styles of his scores. Breaking out in the 80's with the ABC hit series Head of the Class, Alton has worked consistantly ever since in prime time on both comedies & dramas. In the 90's Alton scored 2 of NBC's Thursday night "Must see TV" hits; Suddenly Susan & The Single Guy. His work with Bernadette Peters on The Closer led to an Emmy Nomination in Music & Lyrics. Recent projects have been the popular TV series Whitney & My Boys, and arranging & conducting on the Britney Spears CD In The Zone.
