Biography

Garry Schyman is an American film, television and video game music composer. Schyman graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in music composition and soon began writing music for such celebrated television series as Magnum P.I. and The A-Team.

Schyman continued working in television and film when a friend asked him to write music for the video game Voyeur. Schyman used a live orchestra to score the game, one of the first video games to do so. The soundtrack won the Cybermania Award for best soundtrack. After scoring the sequel, Schyman took a break from video game composing until 2005 when he composed the soundtrack to Destroy All Humans!. Once again, the score was appreciated by critics and was nominated for the Game Audio Network Guild's Best Original Instrumental Song and Music of the Year awards.

Schyman continues to work in video games today, feeling that the industry has moved towards wanting strong orchestral music that is iconic and interesting. He has composed the score for all three Destroy All Humans! games as well as several others including BioShock and Dante's Inferno. Some of Schyman's work from BioShock has been performed by a live orchestra in the Video Games Live international concert tour.
