Biography

Harry Gregson-Williams is among Hollywood's most desired composers whose unique and creative talent has earned him cross-over success within the feature film and gaming genres. He has received multiple awards and has been nominated for Golden Globe, Grammy and World Soundtrack Awards for his work on The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe soundtrack.

Gregson-Williams moved to Los Angeles in 1995 and got his big break into film scoring when Oscar-winning film composer Hans Zimmer brought him in to work on soundtracks of Zimmer films including Crimson Tide (1995), Muppet Treasure Island (1996), The Rock (1996), and As Good as it Gets (1997). Other collaborations followed including work with Trevor Rabin (Enemy of the State, 1998; Armageddon, 1998) and John Powell (Antz, 1998; Chicken Run, 2000; Shrek, 2001).

Within a few years, Gregson-Williams was scoring A-list films including Shrek 2 (2004), Bridget Jones 2 (2004), The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe (2005), Gone Baby Gone (2007), and Shrek the Third (2007). He is known for being an inventive and character-driven composer who is always striving to bring a unique element to the project. In addition to scoring for films, Gregson-Williams is well-regarded for his work in the gaming world having written music for the Metal Gear Solid game series and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. His ability to incorporate both orchestral and electronic musical elements has brought him recognition as a versatile and innovative composer.
